DIY: Old-Fashioned Catsup

Store-bought ketchup is a toss-up when it comes to healthy ingredients. We’ve found the best way to be sure of what you’re eating is to make it yourself. Ketchup is one of those things that just shouldn’t have to worry about. Try this recipe; you’ll love the result!

48 medium tomatoes (8 lbs.), peeled

2 sweet green peppers, chopped

4 onions, chopped

Boil tomatoes, peppers and onions until tender. Run through a sieve or strainer. Add the following:

3 C white vinegar

3 C raw sugar

3 T Himalayan pink salt

1-1/2 t ground cloves

1-1/2 t cinnamon

1-1/2 t allspice

3 t ground dry mustard

½ t ground cayenne pepper

Boil until thick. Pour into jars. Refrigerate.
